Prepare Your Home For The Winter

  • Inspect windows and doors for cracks – seal any openings with weather stripping or caulk.
  • Replace batteries in smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors
  • Check the roof for loose, cracked or missing shingles
  • Remove hoses from outside spigots and store
  • Clean debris from gutters to prevent water from collecting and freezing
  • Have your heater inspected for maximum efficiency and replace filters for cleaner air
  • Program thermostats to lower temps while away and sleeping
  • Have a professional evaluate the amount of insulation in your home.  If properly insulated, it will keep your energy costs down (in the summer months as well)
